Doli (Larder)

While most doli are shaped like cabinets, some are in the form of chests with an opening at the top, like this example. This doli was placed inside the kitchen to store containers of milk and prepared food inside it. Since this house had mud flooring, this larder was raised up on two stone slabs, set in the floor, to prevent moisture from seeping in
