"Doc McStuffins" is an animated television series created and produced by Chris Nee. It premiered on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior on March 12, 2013. The series focuses on Dottie "Doc" McStuffins, a young African-American girl who hopes to follow in her mother?s footsteps and become a doctor. In preparation for her future career, she treats various illnesses displayed by her toys and dolls, which come to life whenever she puts on her stethoscope. She uses "The Big Book of Boo Boos" to help diagnose them, along with help from a group of stuffed animals.

In 2013, the series became the number one ranked show for children aged two to five, and it sold $500 million worth of related merchandise. Experts believe this set a new record for a franchise focused on an African-American character, and critics praised its broad appeal to children across multiple ethnicities.
