The Kenner toy company offered Gabbigale in 1972. A technological wonder when she was introduced, Gabbigale could repeat what was said to her. According to the catalogue copy: "Raise her arm, pull string and she records anything you say on the built-in tape recorder. Lower arm, pull string and she repeats what she has heard." Many grown Gabbigale owners recall how much they loved their dolls until an older brother recorded colorful language and profanities into their sweet little dolls. Then Gabbigale was not so much fun anymore.
