From 1919 to about 1930, Louise R. Kampes sold her Kamkins cloth dolls to summer vacationers from her studio shop on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. Kampes labeled her dolls "Kamkins-A Dolly to Love." Each season, she offered new dresses and outfits, shoes, sandals, hats, and accessories for the dolls, keeping her young customers coming back for the latest in dolly fashions. The dolls stood about 19 to 20 inches tall, an ideal size for nurturing play.
