Jumeau dolls of the late 19th century represent a perfect combination of doll-making technology and consumer demand for high-quality, stylish, elegant dolls. Jumeau mastered new methods of marketing, advertising, and production and applied them to doll manufacture. Jumeau b퀌�b퀌�s were considered the pinnacle of the French doll trade, and these dolls were sought after all over the world for their beautiful faces and their exquisite clothing. This particular doll, called by collectors an "EJ" Jumeau for the marking on the back of its head dates from about 1882 to 1886.
