The image was taken by Mr Ronald Berg who was a press photographer for the Daily Telegraph at the time. Ron recalls that Melbourne photographer Gerry Riley had developed a motor drive camera that allowed him to shoot 4 frames per second to enable him to better cover the action at horse hurdle races. Ron asked his boss, Mr Frank Packer, to consider purchasing one of these cameras which he intended to adapt for use at cricket matches. Mr Packer gave his approval but with the stipulation that the camera be used in NSW only. This was how this particular image was achieved. Ron recalls setting his camera up on a tripod in the MA Noble stand at the SCG, using a big wooden plank as a platform. He would swing the camera around to first focus on the SCG clock to provide a time for his image sequences which would then go back to the office to be edited and chosen for publication. This particular shot he recalls as not being used in the daily publication, but was later printed in a supplement.
