Before the war, Ina lived in Berlin with her parents, Victor and Hanna, Polish Jews who had lived in Berlin for over a decade. In 1938, her father was deported to Poland. Her mother arranged for Ina to escape on the Kindertransport. Three days later, her mother was arrested and deported to Poland. Both of Ina's parents perished in the Holocaust. Ina lived in England during the war. In 1945, she was able to emigrate to the United States and to join her aunt in New Jersey.
