This design shows the basics of the Isaac Peral submarine already devised in 1885. The submarine had a wealth of innovations that meant it could navigate underwater and be used as a weapon.
The design shows its 2 Inmisch 30v electric motors, its 2 vertical and 2 horizontal axes, and a 450-mm torpedo tube in the prow with 3 Schwartzkopff torpedoes.
Helped with the design by his former mentor, José Luis Díez, Peral went to Madrid to show his plans to the Minister of the Navy and defend his ideas. The minister created a Technical Board, responsible for deciding if the project would be viable. Although the board approved the project, it was then shelved when Vice Admiral Pezuela left his ministerial post on the death of the king.
