The wrap effect and the asymmetrical neckline of this bodice are formed by identically cut interlocking pattern pieces. The front bodice extends to form the upper right sleeve, and the back bodice extends to form the upper left sleeve, each with such an excess of fabric that a deep horizontal fold across the bust and shoulder blades creates a blouson effect. The unconventional yet luminous pinstriped silk fabric was typically used in menswear coat linings.
