William Alexander Mackay (1860–1924) was a Scottish physician, hired in 1883 by the Rio Tinto Company Limited to treat its employees in Huelva. His clinics featured the latest technical advances and also provided free treatment to members of the general public with limited means. He was the driving force behind the "casas de salud" or "health lodges" in Punta Umbría, and also encouraged recreational sports as president of the "Club Recreativo de Huelva" team. In 1923, he was named an “Adoptive Son of Huelva.”
