Hans van Manen already used Béla Bartok’s music once in his ballet 'Opus Twaalf'. 'Dualis' was his second one. This time Van Manen seems to have found the answer to the problem of interpersonal communication. Two pairs dance, the first lyrical and with a flowing movement, the second edgy and fierce. As a whole, the ballet shows the equality, the dynamics and the complementing of both the other and the self. There are no boundaries: between body and soul, between man and woman, between good and evil. We are all identical, we are all human.
