George Bertram DuBois was an aviation boatswain’s mate on the aircraft carrier Intrepid. He painted his duffel bag as a tribute to his service during World War II. The image of the ship in front of a rising sun and the words “Kamikaze Delight” convey his pride in Intrepid and its resilience in surviving multiple attacks. The words “Homeward Bound” express his desire to return home.
