Dunlop Max-Fort laminated wooden racquet with rounded handle. Built by Dunlop Makers of Maxply. This frame is constructed from genuine pre-war timbers. The name 'Maxply' means a maximum of wood lamination plies. The Dunlop trademark logo before 1959 showed a waterdrop or flag with a 'D' in the centre but after 1959 this changed to an arrow with a circle and a 'D' in the centre. Maxply can claim to be the most famous racquet ever with construction largely unchanged between 1932-1983. In 1981 John McEnroe won Wimbledon against Bjorn Borg playing with a Dunlop Maxply - the last time Wimbledon was won by a player using a wooden racquet. Apparently more tournaments have been won with the Maxply racquet than with any other racquet - due to its longevity.
