Dwarf cichlid, Apistogramma agassizii

Some habitats are seasonal, available only in the high or low-water seasons. In the low water seasons, shallow pools of water become isolated from the main river channel. Such habitats are easily sampled with hand-held dip nets and yield small species like the dwarf cichlid.
