Josep Cerdà i Ferré (Tarragona, 1954) He trained at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona, where he lectures in Sculpture and was also a Dean. His career has been characterised by an interest in architecture and the symbolic wealth of Arab and Pre-Columbian cultures. His works are structure in series and based on themes such as the Alhambra, the literary works of Jorge Luís Borges, or forms derived from vegetable morphology. His work is also characterised by the originality of forms, the purity of volumes, the wealth of textures and the harmonic contrast of filled spaces and voids, in the best sculptural tradition. This work is part of the sculptural series which includes Al-hamra (1988), winner of the 25th Julio Antonio Sculpture Award, 1989 Art Biennial.
