Ektara

Ektara is single stringed instrument from Bihar and Jharkhand. This has a bamboo piece inserted through a gourd covered with skin. It contains a single steel string stretched over the bamboo stick and tied to a wooden tuning peg at the upper end of the stick. It is plucked rhythmically by the right hand index finger. Ektara is used as a drone instrument.
