El Arcángel San Rafael

The winged figure of Saint Raphael the Archangel is displayed in a timeless space surrounded by clouds. The figure is standing over one of them, which seems darker and more compact than the others, almost like a rock. His head is slightly tilted to his right side and his look is directed to the heights. His right hand is gently placed on his chest, giving him an aspect of retreat. His left hand carries a pilgrim’s staff and a fish, while the position of his legs gives the idea of being in motion.
His attire gives him a graceful appearance by using genres of soft tones and a vaporous lightness, both in the dresses and in the mantle. Other elements that contribute to this ethereal aspect are the sober sandals of blue ribbons tied and crisscrossed until mid-calf and the cape; trimmed with two shells, reduced to its minimum expression, so as not to impede the airy flight of the fabrics. Its greenish-gray wings are colored on the upper and outer edges with a slightly more intense red than the tone of its garments.
