Elmer L. Whiting married Louisa (Lou) Stites in 1890. After Lou suffered a miscarriage in December of 1894, the couple had one son, Gordon, in 1897. Elmer and Lou lived in the city most of their lives but moved to suburban Chicago sometime before Elmer's death in 1940.
