Abraham Lincoln signed this commemorative copy of the Emancipation Proclamation in June 1864, to be sold at the Philadelphia Great Central Sanitary Fair. Organized by the U.S. Sanitary Commission, the fair raised money for sick and wounded U.S. soldiers. Lincoln donated autographed items to fairs across the country but only attended this one in Philadelphia.
