This tablecloth is created using the snutka technique, based on traditional patterns. It is made from white linen and white cotton threads. The technique of snutka involves transferring a design from paper onto the linen, which is then embroidered. The individual motifs are embroidered, and the elements are connected with threads arranged in a systematic, dispersed pattern. Finally, the linen foundation is entirely removed, leaving an embroidered design that resembles lace, offering a delicate, airy, and translucent appearance. Golińska snutka features both floral and geometric motifs.
Since the mid-19th century, in Golina near Jarocin, snutki were widely used, primarily for decorating women's clothing.
Due to its distinct style, the snutka embroidery technique is regarded as a product of native culture. It remains one of the living traditions of folk art in Greater Poland.
