Embroidery with standing phoenix and scrolling grasses motifs

The split stitch embroidery technique, extremely popular when the Tang dynasty was at its height in the first half of the eighth century, is used here in a three layer border, which is slightly three-dimensional, and on a different plane from the patterns in the center. It is possibly part of a bed cover.
