Emergency Wrench, Tool Set, Command Module, Apollo 11

The Apollo toolset provides multipurpose tools and/or attachments for mechanical actuations and valve adjustments. This component is labeled Tool B - Emergency Wrench. The emergency wrench is capable of applying a torque of 1475-inch pounds, and has a ball-lock device to lock it in a socket. It is essentially a modified Allen head L-wrench. An additional tool B is aboard the LM for possible use opening the CM side hatch during an emergency EVA.This set was used during the Apollo 11 mission and NASA transferred it to the Smithsonian in 1970.
