Duduzile Mnguni is an artist from Middelburg, South Africa. Pencil and paper were the only mediums she knew until her brother enrolled her for part-time art classes. That is when her interest in art developed. In 2015, she moved to Pretoria and studied Graphic design for a year at the Tshwane University of Technology. She then applied to study fine art for three years. In 2018 she interned at the Fred Contemporary gallery and in the same year, she was a second runner up in the painting category for the My Middelburg Art Competition.
Her work is influenced by her lived experiences. She grew up in a small family and felt emotionally neglected and through creating art, it helped her find that lost connection. For her, creating art is a form of healing. She enjoys exploring different mediums that speak to her. Her work expresses her sense of longing and desire to stay connected to her family. Her work also explores the day to day life and the struggles of being an artist.
