Emerging Creative: Fumani Khumalo

Fumani is passionate about creativity and exploring his abilities to their limits which is why he dabbled in illustrations, graffiti, fine arts before landing his current rold as an art director at digital agency, VML.

The Joburg-based Vega graduate draws detailed portraits using charcoal and also makes use of ink, acrylic paint and markers to add abstract representations of thought and speech.

He is fascinated by language and how we use, which is why he spends time analysing and unravelling the nuances of our everyday dialogue before expressing it in his art.

"For a long time, art has been a medium that has been closed off from the public, the people represented in the art are not the same people viewing the art," Fumani says adding that this is why he wants to make accessible.
