Emmy Kasbit, Spring / Summer 2019

Emmy Kasbit S/S19 collection shown at Lagos Fashion Week 2018. Launched in 2014 by Okoro Emmanuel, Emmy Kasbit was born out of a passion to dress unconventional men and women. The brand’s aesthetic is defined by clean and architectural cuts, and since winning the Fashion Focus Prize at Lagos Fashion Week in 2017, Emmy Kasbit’s recent collections have placed an emphasis on reinterpreting and reinventing vintage looks in a contemporary way using Akwete a woven material from the Eastern region of Nigeria.
The collection was birthed through a nostalgic journey into the past; a journey which has enabled the designer Emmanuel Okoro to discover a future. The designer takes nostalgic memories of living in Calabar, Nigeria and creates a journey using his signature woven cloth Akwete from the Eastern region of the country.
