The form is built through emptiness. Does emptiness build balance? The hole, the concavity, are procedures to empty the matter, to leave air, so that a piece can be shaped. In sculpture, this doesn’t appeal me if it is not the accomplice of simplicity. In Asia, what matters about things is only their subtlety, the space and the shape are related in a chain of necessary requirements. For the atomists, the emptiness is fundamental for the existence of movement. At the same time, it is something between sound and silence. Gillo Dorfles says: “we should remark that emptiness is precisely what defines the successive fullness”. In the space where we usually move, we don’t see emptiness often. The domestic is full of us. In the exact moment or very close to what is pointed as the end, all the time is filled with emptiness.
