The artist David Klöcker Ehrenstrahl was comissioned to make a suite of drawings of King Karl XI's carousel celebrating his ascension to the throne in 1672. Ehrenstrahl's drawings were transferred to copperplate by Christoph Eimmart in Nuremberg and printed. The work, consisting of 63 plates, was published in 1686.
