National Museum of Natural Science

National Museum of Natural Science
Taichung, Taiwan

Biological specimens in museum collections are important source to biodiversity research. International cooperation to study these specimens significantly improves the understanding of local fauna or flora. In recent decades a consensus has been reached that the type series of a newly described species or voucher specimens, if collected from other countries, shall be returned in a whole or a part to the country of origin. These are type specimens of two thyatirid moth species from Taiwan, Epipsestis meilingchani and E. dubia chengshinglini. They were named after Dr. Mei-Ling Chan and Dr. Cheng-Shing Lin respectively by Hungarian researchers Gy. M. Laszolo and G. Ronkay who cooperated with NMNS to study Taiwan’s moths.
