The circle is a simple, plane, geometric figure, and is the symbol of perfect unity. In its spherical form, it symbolises the cosmos and totality of creation. When one circle is drawn over another, such that they pass through their centres, the resulting almond shape, Vesica piscis (fish bladder), is formed. Pagan thought considers this to be a symbol of life and the female principle.
