Cutting Sword with Decorative Cross Guard

Cutting sword with decorative cross guard. It is decorated with gilded brass, with a flat cross guard (circular), oval pommel with an engraved border in a geometric pattern, and 2 small quillons that form part of the cross guard. The cross guard is smooth and made of one single piece. The blade is straight with 2 edges that run to the tip. It is decorated with a pattern of leaves and trophies on the first third, which were originally blued with gold engravings.
It belonged to Antonio Barceló, Lieutenant General of the Spanish Navy.

This type of sword, known as "French style," was the regulation sword in the Spanish Navy during most of the 18th century.
