Food box

This tin box is decorated with a hammer and pick engraving as well as the initials of the Communist Party of the Saar (KPS) that existed until 1957. In March of 1957, after the Saarland had joined the Federal Republic of Germany, the Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsericht) classified the KPS as an affiliate organization of the KPD, which had been banned in the meantime. On 9 April 1957, the party was then also banned by the Saarland's Minister of the Interior.
