The mill was leased by John Harrison in 1835 which, at the time, was said to have been recently erected. It was very well located for that purpose, with an ample supply of both water for power and coppice wood to make charcoal. The mill is a compact, rectangular, two-storey structure had a wheel pit at one end and a fireproof outshut at the other.
