The High Pavilion was located in the Outer Court along the walls of the former Front Palace in Bangkok. Built to echo—in style and in function—Sutthaisawan of the Grand Palace, this wooden pavilion served two functions; one, for Second King King Pinklao to observe war games on one side, and two, to observe the procession of envoys arriving on the other side. This structure was constructed to celebrate the elevation of Pinklao to the level of a Second King, and it only existed during the reigns of First King Mongkut and Second King Pinklao. The exterior perspective would take place from the outside of the palace walls looking in towards the Front Palace.
