F-734 has the distinction of being the first locomotive to be built entirely in India.

Manufactured in 1895 by the Ajmer Workshop of the North Western Railway, it set the ball rolling for future locomotive manufacture in the country. Prior to it, locomotives were assembled at Jamalpur Workshops from spare parts supplied by the original manufacturers.
