The table lamp f.aid is a do-it-yourself object which was created in 2013 for the MAK Design Nite. This DIY happening on the occasion of the exhibition NOMADIC FURNITURE 3.0. New Liberated Living? displayed contemporary strategies of creating do-it-yourself furniture as a collective process. The project f.aid is a critically reflected examination between mainstream and alternative culture. Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler question the disposal of chipboards and provide first aid for old boards. The table lamp is composed of individual discarded boards which are combined to new pieces of furniture with the aid of bandages. The bandages provide the necessary stability and give the furniture an unconventional character.
