This mural focuses on the history of Central Ave in South Central Los Angeles. Imaged is a jazz scene from the roaring twenties, zoot suit riots in the 1940s, political struggles of people like Charlotta Bass with her newspaper "The California Eagle" and the shoot out between the LAPD and The Black Panther Party for self defense. The present and the future are represented by the youth. While one is reading about past struggles, she writes her destiny on to paper. The other reaches to break barriers to accomplish her dreams, finally realizing her full potential with the help of her family, teachers, mentors and friends.
