In arming of tunnels that had to remain open for a short time (crops) it was employed in the armor timber.

To open galleries in low land and consistency that had to remain open for long, (eg. The haulage galleries) was provided to their coating with ashlar masonry (trachyte or concrete) or brick, adopting circular or elliptical sections.

In the case where it is requested a certain elasticity of the coating, as well as rapid assembly, is employed in a coating of wood shaped segments (troppoli).
