Fan

The fan is a luxury item with finely executed miniature paintings – galant scenes in a park painted with pastel colours. The figures have soft proportions and soft movements. The perforation of gilt and painted ivory ribs creates an ornamental lacework composed of cartouches, rocaille, interwoven S and C volutes. The rocaille cartouches with carved figural scenes alternate with cartouches with painted motifs on mother of pearl.
