Edwardian woman's fencing jacket with long cuffed sleeves, high necked back, and 15 mother of pearl buttons and buttonholes. The jacket is made from heavy twilled linen in a natural colour and the front section is lined with white quilted cotton sateen and has hard breast shields incorporated. Inside there is a label which reads 'Melle HARVEY. This English-made fencing jacket is representative of the role of sport and sporting activities in the lives of affluent Edwardian women.
