Cable television's phenomenally successful "Breaking Bad" crime drama aired from 2008 to 2013 and garnered a loyal following of adult viewers. The series portrays a terminally ill chemistry teacher who decides to secure his family's financial future before he dies by producing and selling crystal methamphetamine. The series inspired action figures of the Walter White protagonist and other characters of the show aimed at adult fans. One Walter figure comes with a hand gun and a bag of fake cash. Another portrays Walter with a sack of meth. Packaging for the figures recommends they are suitable for customers 15 years old and older. In October 2014, the action figures appeared in a Toys R Us store in Florida, prompting a concerned mother to post a petition on www.change.com, soliciting support to have the figures removed from the stores where kids shop. Toys R Us agreed to remove the figures after the website collected more that 9,000 signatures and news of the petition appeared in major new outlets. The incident suggests the power of one individual using social media to affect change.
