"Made mostly assembling thrown pieces , Hanuman has thick , heavy legs , like pipes , a body which is more delicate than the legs and a tail curving upwards . The tail is held by a support made on the back . The mouth is wide open revealing huge front teeth . The figure has a crown on the head , earrings and a moustache . Pellets of clay form a garland at the neck . The lips of the figure . are thick and the eyes have been pierced with a pointed stick . The Hanuman has holes in its legs for wheels . The figure is kept on the roofs of houses to ward off the evil eye. " From Form and Many Forms of Mother Clay by Haku Shah. ( pg: 160 )
