TAMAR
Mata de São João, Brazil

When sea turtles hatch, they are vulnerable to predation as they make their way to the sea and after they are inside the water. The hatchlings may be eaten by crabs, ants, fox, birds, fishes, and many others. Only one or two out of a thousand sea turtle hatchlings will survive to adulthood under natural conditions.
