Coal Face

The film "Coal Face" impressively documents coal mining operations in 1930s Great Britain. Cavalcanti (1897 to 1982) received a lot of attention for the experimental manner in which the subject was portrayed and captured, which was considered groundbreaking at the time. The musical backdrop of Coal Face with a composition by Benjamin Britton (1913 to 1976) helped to popularize this industry-specific film even outside of Great Britain.
