Acisclo Manzano (1940) Trained as an engraver, he perfected his technique in the studies of various sculptors from his native Galicia, acquiring experience with various materials and work tools that would allow him to accept his first commissions to engrave figures of Christ and other religious images. During the sixties, he worked exclusively in wood engraving, producing innovative forms with mixed reactions from art critics. In the seventies, he embarked on a career with bronze works which reflected the duality in which he operated during this period. He maintained a peculiar sense of figuration with an expressionist trait, along with a unique way of incorporating informalism and abstraction. The art critic Maria Luisa Sobrino says: “... he walks a line of synthesis between organicistic abstraction and certain figurative traits which, in his case, evoke classical treatments” 16th Julio Antonio Sculpture Award, 1970 Art Biennial.
