Australian National Surfing Museum
Torquay, Australia

This is another surfboard donated to the museum by Carlton and United Breweries from the Gold Coast surfing themed bar. Made of Oregon this board is most likely an Australian copy of the boards that had been imported to Australia from Hawaii between 1910 and 1920. 9'6" long 20" wide and 3" thick these solid timber surfboards would often weigh in at over 40 kilograms. This board features brass reinforcing plates screwed into the nose and tail of the board to help prevent the timber from splitting.
