[Petition] to the Honourable the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in Parliament Assembled. This petition, organised by the Kensington Society, argued that denying women the vote injured women as individuals and society in general. 1,499 women were signatories including Florence Nightingale, Josephine Butler, Harriet Martineau and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The petition was given to John Stuart Mill who delivered it to Parliament.
