Los Angeles, United States

Fishplate with hanging rim and central depression. In the central depression is an eight petal rosette with alternating dark red and purple petals. On the plate's flat surface are four palmettes, two purple, two perhaps red and purple. Purple four-petal rosettes are painted between the palmettes, and there are ghosts of at least two dolphins. Short strokes in purple decorate the outer circumference of the plate.
Visibile Induced Luminescence indicates that the dolphins were originally painted with Egyptian Blue, as were at least one of the rosettes and two of the palmettes (those preserving visible traces of red), with the blue applied over the purple.
