The MESSENGER (Mercury Surface, Space Environment, Geochemistry and Ranging) spacecraft begins a slow spin on the spin table at Astrotech Space Operations in Titusville, Fla. MESSENGER is scheduled to lift off Aug. 2 from Pad 17-B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. It is expected to reach orbit around Mercury in March 2011. MESSENGER was built for NASA by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md.
