In medieval Coventry ceramic floor tiles were used in churches and monasteries. They were made in a mould and stamped with a decorative pattern. Slip, a mixture of clay and water, was used to fill in the stamped design to create two tone tiles. This design shows a crowned man holding flowers, possibly dandelions
