This design, likely for a textile or wallpaper, is not known to have been realised. It is similar in style to 'Sprig', a printed cotton fabric produced by the Century Guild in around 1890, and is a good example of the more formal, "neo-Regency" style of Mackmurdo's decorative and architectural designs from this period.
